On our return to Cam\u00ed de Cavalls today we will continue along the dry side of Menorca, where we already arrived<\/a> in a previous section. We are in the northern part of our island and the walk will pass through a landscape modelled by the strong Tramontana wind that regularly combs this area. The trail is smooth but passes over extremely high and steep cliffs of extraordinary beauty<\/strong>. In addition, during this journey we will have the privilege to study the different rural landscapes: the dry walls, the pig or sheep shelters made from the stones taken from the ground, or \u00abponts de bens\u00bb, which is where the animals take shelter in bad weather.<\/p>\n

We start on the west side of Cala Morell<\/strong> and the road approaches the sea from which point you will have some fantastic views. From here there is a gentle ascent arriving at the Marina of Son Morell. Soon the trail will leave the sea to enter the marina and we will arrive at the road of Son Morell. Further forward we will leave this road once again and pass along the side of the fields, bordering the cattle\u2019s grazing land.<\/p>\n

At this point the road now gently descends and passes near the Cave of Vallori. Halfway along this road we pass by Son Escudero, where it is very common to find the sweet smelling Menorquin chamomile<\/strong> used\u00a0medicinally\u00a0and\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0tea.\u00a0The road continues parallel to the sea and passes through the estuary of Son Escudero, which has remarkable rock formations of great geological interest.<\/p>\n

Later on we encounter some naval history of Menorca as we find a cross placed in memory of the 156 French sailors who drowned in the shipwreck of the boat General Chanzy<\/strong> in 1910. The exact point are the rocks in front of Torrenova.<\/p>\n

On the last part of our walk today, we find yet another vegetable treasure of which Menorca is privileged. Capers<\/strong>, they lend a salty, vinegary taste to recipes. The road leads away from the sea, however we recommend that you visit the lighthouse at Punta Nati<\/strong>, which was built in 1913 just after the shipwreck of the ship General Chanzy. This is also an excellent place to watch a sunset<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
