Menorca has a long tradition of <strong>folk groups<\/strong> that have provided scores to its inhabitants such as <strong>Los Parranderos, Traginada, Joana Pons amb Ses Guiterres or Trio Arrels de Menorca<\/strong> but Es Cau is a simple and quiet place to go to to have a drink, to sing some \u2018habaneras\u2019 with friends or, simply, to enjoy the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Na nena (Tornada a Menorca), Trio Arrels de Menorca\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9UebFTz-ki4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Opened in 1962 in Cala Corb<\/strong> by the American Jim Maps along with other partners, it was Gabriel Marqu\u00e8s with his inseparable \u00abManitas de plata\u00bb, who impressed his peculiar and unmistakable character on the premises.<\/p>\n<p>Little by little, Es Cau <strong>became an obligatory place to visit for all tourists who wanted to know the most genuine Menorca<\/strong>.\u00a0 After passing through the hands of Bruno Marqu\u00e8s, after his father died in \u201cBiel des Cau\u201d, it was the brother and sister Joan Carles and Annabel Villalonga who kept this emblematic musical bar open.\u00a0 Today, <strong>David Serra runs Es Cau and he is responsible<\/strong>, night after night, for keeping the flame alive and maintaining the spirit of that endearing place that, in a certain way, all Menorquins carry in their heart.<\/p>\n<p>In the soire\u00e9s<strong> with friends and family, usually some start to sing and the most daring, to play the traditional guitar songs<\/strong>. The most beloved for those who speak Menorquin are: \u00abEscolta es vent,\u00bb \u00abBalada d&#8217;en Lucas\u00bb or \u00abNa Nena\u00bb.
