[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Port of Ma\u00f3\/Mah\u00f3n is one of the most spectacular ports in the Mediterranean<\/strong> and, being more than 6 kilometres in length, is one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Since the third century our port has been a fundamental enclave in the western Mediterranean<\/strong>, a refuge for many ships and disputed by many cultures. The Phoenicians, the Rhodians, the Muslims, the Greeks, the Focenses, the Carthaginians, the English and the French have all left their mark on our harbour.<\/p>\n

\"\"There are different towers and fortification<\/strong>s such as the castle of San Felipe in the south or the fortress of La Mola on the right bank. In addition, the port is home to islands such as the island of Lazareto (its name comes from it being an old hospital between the 19th and 20th century), the island of Quarentena, the island of the Rei, which has been restored by a group of volunteers<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>and a fourth Island, Pinto Island, in the military zone.<\/p>\n

On the southern shore are the municipalities of Mah\u00f3n and Es Castell plus other urbanizations<\/strong>. The north shore is less populated, but there are some villas in the coves of s\u2019Altra Banda such as Cala Rata, Cala Ratol\u00ed, Cala San Antonio and Cala Parti\u00f3 or Cala Llonga that enjoys a large urbanization.<\/p>\n
