{"id":8966,"date":"2020-02-24T18:45:43","date_gmt":"2020-02-24T17:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bonninsanso.com\/discoverymenorca\/?p=8966"},"modified":"2020-02-24T18:45:43","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T17:45:43","slug":"the-talayotic-village-of-sant-agusti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bonninsanso.com\/discoverymenorca\/the-talayotic-village-of-sant-agusti\/","title":{"rendered":"The Talayotic village of Sant Agust\u00ed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Talayotic village of Sant Agust\u00ed, where today we recommend a visit on our route through Talayotic Menorca.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Sant Agusti is one of the largest villages and stands out for the fact that you can still see the beams of wild olive wood in one of its talayots.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is situated in the municipality of Es Migjorn Gran, turning right after 1.5 kilometres on the Santo Tomas road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9020\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bonninsanso.com\/discoverymenorca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/DSC_0394-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The site consists of two talayots and eight houses.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The talayot has a diameter of 18.20 metres and was built based on concentric rings with irregular stones on the outside.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 The <\/span>other talayot, has a circular floor and a base built with large stones. Accessing through a doorway of pillars, you can see its circular chamber.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>On the roof you can see flat stones supported by pilasters and columns.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As we said at the beginning, here you can see the two olive wood beams dating from the 9<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> Century BC. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9021\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bonninsanso.com\/discoverymenorca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/DSC_0413-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6000\" height=\"4000\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To the east of the village there are three houses and to the west another five.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Some scholars believe that in the south west there may be taula sanctuaries or post Talayotic houses, one of which seems to be the taula but only part of the wall remains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The village of Sant Agusti was inhabited until the Islamic era in the 10<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> or 13<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> Century.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There is evidence of this found in excavated materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">No authorised parking.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Free access.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Privately
