Last Friday, the much-anticipated II Real Estate Forum 2024, an initiative by Radio Menorca SER, took place, bringing together over 70 attendees at the Ateneu de Maó to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the real estate sector in Menorca.
The event kicked off with a presentation by Roser Román, architect and creator of “Old Together,” an innovative initiative aimed at providing housing solutions for elderly and retired individuals, as well as those facing economic difficulties in accessing housing. This proposal, which promotes the creation of communal spaces and shared services, paved the way for a deep discussion on the importance of quality of life in urban planning.
Jose Pons, Commercial Director of Bonnin Sanso, joined the debate alongside other prominent professionals in the real estate sector, such as Isabel Petrus from Casas en Menorca and Joan Villalonga from Fincas Llongas. Together, they explored how raising the bar on quality in the tourist destination not only boosts the tourism sector but also has a direct impact on access to housing for local residents. This constructive dialogue shed light on the need for policies that promote a balance between tourism and the housing needs of the community.
The subsequent presentations by Miguel Sicília, President of the College of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Menorca, and by Santiago Saura, a lawyer specialising in urban law, provided a solid context for understanding the current state of the real estate market and the legal challenges that accompany it.
Finally, we would like to thank Radio Menorca for providing us with this valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives on the real estate panoram on the island. At Bonnin Sanso, we are firmly committed to excellence and progress, working tirelessly to build a prosperous and sustainable future for all residents of Menorca.
