When you have choosen the type of awning and it’s been installed, a mínimum of maintenance is important. If the awning doesn’t have an automatic roll up system, it is wise to roll it up when it rains or during strong winds and to remove the skirting during the months it’s not going to be in use to prevent its deterioration.
Also, you should regulary clean the dust that accumulates on the canvas and the fixing system, preferably with a vaccum cleaner. To give it a thorough clean you should use water but do not jet-wash it, and mild soap, never solvents or abrasive cleaners, always rinse and leave the canvas to dry totally before winding it in again.
