Some basic tips to keep your pool at it’s best.

When the weather warms up and the holiday season starts the best place to be is by the pool. Here are some basic tips from CM Servicio Técnico pool services to keep the pool in perfect condition.

  1. Check the pool equipment is working properly, (pumps, filters, etc.) and clean all the filters one or twice a week.

Water

  1. Change the sand in the filter  every five or six years, depending on how much the pool is used.

  1. Carry out a shock treatment with chlorine to eliminate micro-organisms in the water so it is crystal clear, then control chlorine levels on a weekly basis to keep them to between 1 and 1.5 parts per million.

  1. Test the pH level of the water and maintain between 7.2 and 7.6 using appropriate products. The chlorine will then act effectively and eye and skin irritation will be avoided. If the pH level is too high or too low, the chlorine will not work.

Water

  1. Use a flocculant to attract particles in suspension such as algae, dust, salts etc, that are not removed with the sand filter, which will then sink to the bottom of the pool and can be easily removed with the pool hoover.

  1. As a general rule, leave the pump on every day for at least six hours during the bathing season, and preferably during the day when the pool is being used.
