A Caracci in the office

I love painting and it has become one of my favourite hobbies. It seems I have this in my genes and I shall try to explain.

The paintings I have in my house, I painted because I love colour and decided they would give our home harmony. My father also liked painting very much and I think he was a true master of colour.

Perhaps the enjoyment I get from painting comes from having inherited something from our Italian ancestors, the Caracci painters whose best exponent was Annibal Caracci, an Italian baroque painter and engraver, born in Bologna in 1560, considered the eternal rival of Caravaggio. This master has various paintings exhibited in museums such as the Louvre, the Prado or the National Gallery of Washington, among many others.

Anyway, I’m not sure if it’s because I have a surname associated with the Fine Arts but I wanted to share this hobby I have with you all. As you can see, I have a very particular, almost abstract style.

I usually start working with my fingers because I love being in direct contact with the raw materials. I prefer oil painting to acrylics because, I think it has much more texture and adds more life to the paintings.

I am greatly inspired by Menorca all year round but wintertime offers a different light and atmosphere to the Menorca of the white sandy beaches, and this makes my paintings more varied.

It’s been a pleasure sharing my hobby with you.
