From Can Burdó to Il Porto

There are many gastronomic places that are worth visiting such as the one that Kike Perello has done with Il Porto on Mahon harbour. With his famous lobster stew and lobster dishes from his legendary restaurant in Fornells, Can Bordoy, he decided to cook some of his best cuisine with the desire to do something different.

Opening Il Porto was a challenge for him, because most of the front line restaurants in the harbour are very equal to each other. That is why Kike Perello decided to transform his premises into something different and with the architects from the studio of Quintana Partners, he has achieved that.

The second challenge he had for the Mediterranean cuisine was pasta, rice, the best fresh meat and fish the market had to offer, without giving up the caldereta de Langosta ( Lobster stew) for which he has always been renown in his Fornells restaurant, and where many clients drove from all over the island to eat. His new restaurant, Il Porto has its own fish tank where clients can actually select the fish they wish to be served.

That’s how Il Porto was born, an elegant and tastefully decorated bistro where you can lunch or dine daily and even have a drink in their floral, garden area, a place to relax and extend the gathering with your friends or family. Not surprisingly, a good source of inspiration is the extensive wine cellar, gins and whiskeys that decorate and fill one of the areas of the restaurant.
