One of the most important rooms of the home, if not the most important, is the living room. It is a unique space to share with the family or friends, which very often forms a part of the dining room of the home as well. Before deciding what type of living-dining room we want, we should stop and think about the size of the space and the decorative style that adapts best to our life.

Today’s tendencies call out for an industrial style, inspired by the old factories or warehouses of New York, in large and well-lit spaces with structural elements in sight (beams, brick walls) where both concrete and metals are the most prominent materials. Of course, the natural style is still in fashion with wood or imitations in natural or rather dark colours: trunks in the form of coffee tables or stools, for example. In Menorca we are lucky enough to be able to go the beach and with the wood expelled by the tide we can make our own furniture. We can also add wicker or macramé, which combine particularly well with natural furnishings such as chairs and armchairs to give them a more modern touch.

Marble is also making a return, which may be on dining-room tables and side tables. The very latest style in this line is called shading, stones with a lot of irregular streaks, in white, brown, reddish or green marbles. Why not use accessories such as marble decorative plates? If all the styles we have just looked at don’t get you worked up, we can choose the masculine, assorted, Mediterranean, ethnic or vintage style instead.

By the way, Marsala colour will continue to be trendy in 2016, but grey combined with ochre’s and yellows will make us feel more up to date. Blue tones from the palest to the deepest will also be high up on the list, which can be accompanied with ochre’s or browns. At Bonnin Sansó there are living rooms for all tastes. Which one inspires you most?
