Menorca, ornitholic destination

The data estimates that in Europe there are ten million tourists who are interested in nature and with special dedication to observing our wild life birds, which are included in the so called ornithological tourism, also known as the birdwatcher guide for tourists. Undoubtedly, our country is a good destination given its enormous potential in national parks and Biosphere reserves like the one that Menorca has had for twenty years. Sr. Xavier Méndez, the ornithologist knows very well about the passion of the tourists as each year he receives sightings of wild life.

And it is with a variety of species that Menorca equals some of the best areas in Spain, we are lucky that our eco systems are intertwined and distance for travel is short and with the richness of the well preserved landscapes, such as S’Albufera des Grau which is a strategic point of great natural reserve due to not only its characteristics, but its position, and where you can identify the common nightingales, the kingfishers and the great reed warbler among others.

The Menorca Walking Birds organize several programs that can cover from half a day, three days or a week. The months of April and May are especially pointed out as one can observe the spring migration from La Isla del Aire. A nature hike or bird watching tours will allow you to get closer, not only to the birds but the fauna and flora of the island.
